In the Church, we learn from the Holy Bible, the holy tradition, the Liturgy and the icons and hymns of the Church. We also learn from the fathers of the Church. Learning about the Church fathers and their sayings is called Patrology. “But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.” (2 Timothy 3:14) The word Patrology comes from the word "Pater" which means father in Latin. The Church fathers lived a saintly life and we can learn from what they do, what they say, their writings and their prayers and how they lived their life.
